POSEIDON joined European PQC projects and stakeholders in Bucharest to discuss cooperation, implementation and awareness-building around post-quantum cryptography.
On 11 June 2026, POSEIDON took part in Beyond the Algorithm: The Road to Quantum-Safe Europe in Bucharest, Romania. Organised by the SPQR Cluster, with support from PQ-REACT, the event brought together European projects, researchers, policymakers and experts working on the transition to post-quantum cryptography.
As quantum computing advances, Europe needs practical ways to protect digital identities, trust services and sensitive data against future cryptographic threats. This is where POSEIDON contributes: by developing secure and resilient post-quantum cryptographic solutions and supporting their future adoption.
POSEIDON was represented by its coordinator, Antonio Skarmeta from Universidad de Murcia. The project was presented in the opening session alongside other European PQC initiatives and contributed to the session on PQC Stakeholder Engagement & Applications, which focused on adoption strategies and the integration of PQC into cybersecurity frameworks.
The meeting confirmed strong potential for cooperation between projects, especially in technical areas such as IoT-related use cases, PQC implementation and the evaluation of new solutions. Discussions also highlighted the importance of awareness-raising and stakeholder engagement, including possible links with activities addressed to National Coordination Centres.
Next steps for collaboration will be discussed during the PQC cluster meeting in July. For POSEIDON, the event was a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge, identify synergies and support Europe’s move towards quantum-safe digital security.
